Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if I'm ready to start therapy?

Honestly, most people aren't sure, and that's okay. The fact that you're asking the question is usually sign enough. Many people spend years thinking about starting before they take the first step. You don't have to have it all figured out before reaching out. We'll meet you exactly where you are.

What can I expect in my first session?

The first session is really about making you feel comfortable and starting to get a sense of where you want to go in therapy. We'll talk about what brought you in, what's been on your mind, and what you're hoping to work through. I'll take time to understand your goals for therapy and why they matter to you, and together we'll start to build a roadmap to get you there. There's no pressure to share everything right away. My priority is making sure you leave that first session feeling comfortable, safe, and like this is a space you can truly open up in.

How long are sessions, and how often will we meet?

Standard sessions are 50-60 minutes. For clients who prefer faster, more intensive work, extended 110 minute sessions are available. Most clients start by meeting weekly, though frequency can be adjusted based on your life and goals.

Do you accept insurance?

This practice is private-pay only. Insurance companies require a formal diagnosis to authorize treatment and often limit the number of sessions they'll cover, which puts them in control of your care. By working privately, your treatment plan stays between us, you won't carry a diagnosis on your record indefinitely, and sessions can be as long and as frequent as you actually need.

What does it cost, and how does payment work?

Sessions are $200 for a 50-60 minute session. Payment is accepted via credit or debit card and Zelle. A free 15-minute consultation call is available before you commit, so we can connect and make sure it feels like the right fit. Speaking engagements and workshop fees are determined on a case-by-case basis, so reach out directly for a quote.

Where do you conduct therapy sessions?

I offer virtual therapy sessions to individuals living in Florida and Texas. For those in the Miami area, I also offer in-home therapy sessions as well as some availability for in-person sessions. For individuals living outside of Florida and Texas, I offer virtual life coaching sessions.

Is your practice a safe and affirming place for LGBTQ+ and BIPOC individuals?

Yes, and this is something I hold close to my heart as a therapist. I take an actively anti-racist and LGBTQ+ affirming approach to therapy, which means I recognize that your identities and lived experiences don't exist in a bubble. Race, culture, sexuality, gender, and systemic oppression all shape how we move through the world and how we heal. I work to understand the whole person in front of me, including the communities and systems they come from, the barriers they've faced, and the strengths they carry.

Do you offer telehealth and is it as effective?

Yes, I offer virtual therapy sessions and in my experience it is just as effective as in-person work. Research consistently supports telehealth as a powerful and legitimate way to do deep therapeutic work. Many clients actually find that being in their own space helps them feel more relaxed and open. Whether we meet virtually or in person, the quality of care and the connection we build remains the same.

I'm nervous. Is that normal?

Very normal. Sitting with someone you've never met and talking about the things that matter most to you takes real courage. We'll go at whatever pace feels manageable. The goal of the first few sessions is just to help you feel comfortable, and everything else builds from there.
